Double Date

Thanks to Margot, Melissa and Katie, Bryan and I got to go on a double date with my sister Kristy and her boyfriend Justin. We grabbed some food from Rubios and proceeded to the Kirkorian Theater to see Avatar in 3D of course.

The movie was seriously AMAZING...go see it!

Merry Christmas '09

Jesus is the reason for the season...

lip smacking good

Logan has been wanting to eat very frequently lately, and today was no exception. Today he did something really funny (and cute)...

He fell asleep in the car, so I brought him in the house and let him finish his nap in his car seat. I was sitting on the couch reading when I heard a faint noise that was growing louder. Logan was wide awake smacking his lips together. He was not crying...he wasn't even upset. He was clearly hungry and continued to smack his lips together, louder and louder. I got him out of the car seat, fed the little guy. He acted like he hadn't eaten all day...he acted like he was starving. For the record: he did just down a 4 oz bottle two hours earlier, but who's counting. I've often caught him sleep eating (he basically looks like a fish underwater), but never have I seen him wide awake smacking his lips. Perhaps this is his new "Mommy, I'm hungry" signal. :)

snuggle

My college roommate Becky came for a visit today. Before she left I had to get a quick shot of her and Logan...I love it when he snuggles. :)

Get Smart

We start building the set this Saturday!

This set brings a few challenges:
- a curved wall with a "secret" hidden room
- large walls that slide on and off
- doors flats that swing out on hinges
- a telephone booth without a floor
- many other set elements (yet to be drawn up) and very little backstage space to store them.

Sneak peak at the floor-plan:

this...

is Logan's look of recognition. It says "I know you, you're my mommy!"

Q is 32!

Mike (Q) turned 32 today, so we had a birthday breakfast celebration where we highlighted one of Q's favorite foods: bacon. Bacon and spinach frittata, maple-candied bacon, blueberry corn muffins, fruit salad, and bellinis to drink. Of course I forgot to take photos of the birthday boy, but I did manage to get photos of the little boys together.

fingerprints

Amanda helped me take Logan's hand and footprints.
We stamped his little handprints below this poem:

Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls
But every day I'm growing --
I'll be grown some day
And all those tiny handprints
Will surely fade away

So here's a little handprint
Just so you can recall
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small

...and we ended the activity with a bath. :)

ought 9's vs aught 9's

Logan has two cousins (Max and Finn) who are very close in age. Max is 2.5 months older and Finn is 4 days older than Logan. The term ought niners was created to describe them since they were all born in 2009, and I was thinking it would be fun to make little onesies for them with this phrase.

BUT...do I use aught or ought?

Do I write out niners or '09?

Thoughts?

I've already made little onesies for Max (the linguist) and Finn (the milk man)...and I still need to make Logan's (bear). BUT I can't show those to you yet...they are Christmas gifts. I will say that I'm happy with how they turned out. :)

headboards

Throughout pregnancy (and I suppose before and after pregnancy) I loved to sleep with many pillows. With crazy pregnancy-heartburn I needed to prop myself up at night when I slept, however our rod-iron headboard allowed pillows to squeeze through and fall to the floor. Oh how I longed for a solid headboard.

On a similar note, our bed frame will not tighten at the foot of the bed and allowed the mattress to fall through. Even-though I knew the frame was broken, having my mattress fall through the frame as I sat on the corner of the bed (while very pregnant and 30 lbs heavier) was not encouraging. Don't worry...Bryan was able to brace the bed, so it's stable now.

All this to say, I've been eyeing new beds. Not that we are in the market for a new bed right now, it's just fun to look. I have found my newest favorite flipping through one of the many catalogues that have appeared at my house. It's very similar in shape to my sister-in-law Sarah's headboard (which I love...I think we tend to have similar taste).

I love the shape, the woodgrain, the feet, the lack of footboard, and the fact that the bed is all one piece (no way for the mattress to fall through). Isn't this bed awesome? Ok, so it also costs an arm and a leg, but a girl can dream. :)
